RAJ takes India home to level tour




Indian Woman cricket team was 2-1 down in the One day match played against the New Zealand team touring the country. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Indian bowlers had a good start in the beginning with a wicket in the third over. Then the touring team came back with some good partnerships to put a good total in the board. AE Satterthwaite scored 43 runs from 55 balls and SFM Devine the middle order bats woman showed her skills in the field by scoring 89 runs in 102 balls with 10 fours and 3 six. The team was bundled out for 220 runs in 49.5 over. For India, Niranjana and Gayakwad picked three wickets each and H Kaur took two wickets. Chasing a target of 221 runs to win the match and level the series Kamini and Mandhana gave India a good slow and steady start to take the team to a 49 runs partnership for the first wicket. The second wicket partnership between Mandhana and Raj put the team in a strong position in the game. Raj made 83 and Mandhana was dismissed after scoring 66 for the team. Indian reaches the target in the 45th over with two wickets remaining. Now the series is poised at 2-2 with one game to go. Mithali Raj was awarded the man of the match for her good performance with the bat.
