Caribbean Premier League – Match 2




The second match of the CPL was played between St Lucia Zouks and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel. Winning the toss Trinidad chose to field first in a good batting pitch. Both the team had international stars that have the ability to win the match single handedly. Charles and Fletcher opened the innings for St Lucia Zouks. Both started to belt the ball from the first over taking them to 50 runs under 6 over power play. They lost the wicket of Charles in the fifth over for 16 runs in 9 deliveries with 2 fours and 1 six. Kevin Petersen continued to play the strokes from the beginning and was finally dismissed for 42 runs in 26 balls. Fletcher was dismissed in the next over to put the team in the back foot for a while. But the lower middle order batsmen took the score to 179 runs in 20 over to give the opponents a tough target. J Kallis picked two openers and giving 31 runs in 4 overs. Rain started to pore in the match before the first over was bowled by Gabriel. Kallis smashed a four and six to score 10 runs in 5 balls. There was no result as the match did not presume after the rain stopped play.
