It's a usual type of war that is not new to Delhi's political scene. Anyhow, the most
recent conflict between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor
Najeeb Jung is uncommonly boorish, with both sides charging one another -
through media articulations - of naughty conduct. At the heart of the fight is IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin,
who was designated yesterday as Acting Chief Secretary - the senior-most civil
servant in the Delhi
government. Her posting was cleared by the Lieutenant Governor. Mr Kejriwal
charges that this is managerial over-compass for the Lieutenant Governor.
"Recently, the BJP through Delhi's L-G is in a
roundabout way attempting to run the Delhi government... such an administration
which has got an exceptional order... the Chief Minister was overlooked, the
Cabinet was disregarded," Deputy Chief Minister and senior AAP pioneer
Manish Sisodia said. The Kejriwal government additionally asserts that in a
posting with the Power division, Ms Gamlin conflicted with open enthusiasm to
support power organizations who Mr Kejriwal has over and again blamed for
fleecing people in general with expanded costs for power. The Delhi government's
charges against Ms Gamlin, recorded in a media explanation discharged
yesterday, said, "She was seen to be greatly near to power organizations
in Delhi and
was campaigning for their hobbies inside of the Government."
Mr Jung, as Lieutenant Governor, goes about as the delegate
of the union government in the capital. In his reaction, he counters Mr Kejriwal's
allegations and says, "There was nothing on record submitted to the Lt.
Senator that showed that the administration had anything against Ms. Gamlin and
the Lt. Senator laments the name of a senior officer being acquired open space
in such a way, that too a woman officer and one having a place with the North
East." Ms Gamlin has whined in keeping in touch with the Lieutenant
Governor that she was influenced by the Delhi
government to withdraw from the rundown of contenders for the position of Chief
Secretary. Mr Kejriwal has fight or silent grudge with Mr Jung since his first term
as Chief Minister in 2014; he has blamed the Lieutenant Governor for following
up on the requests of the union government and the decision BJP as opposed to
playing a non-divided part.
