Sivakarthikeyan’s "Don" attracts the Masses

Don, directed by Cibi Chakravarthi and starring Sivakrthikeyan, is a film with a lot of expectations. The movie is a fantastic blend of comedy, drama, and great music.

Don tells the story of Chakravarthi (Sivakarthikeyan), who comes from a low-income household. A typical middle-class father (Samuthirkani) makes his kid study engineering in order for him to excel in life. Because his father is severe, no amount of opposition will work with him. He doesn't want his son to put himself in danger. But, Chakravarthi only wants to have fun when he enrols in an engineering college. And he does so in a variety of ways.

He finds professor Boominathan (SJ Suryah), the head of the Discipline Committee, at his college. In the name of discipline, he imposes archaic rule, earning the fury of Chakravarthi and other students. He devises a scheme to teach Boominathan a lesson. Chakravarthy discovers his path and what he wants to do with his life in the process.

In his first movie, Cibi Chakravarthi shows a lot of promise. He has the ability to elevate a simple story and does it with ease and new concepts. Don takes everyone on a nostalgic voyage by recreating memorable scenes from old movies. That is why the movie succeeds to such an extent. The video, set in an engineering college, is realistic and makes you think of your teachers. Yes, there are a variety of them.

When the lecturer exclaims, 'is this a class or a fish market?' the nostalgic factor kicks in to high gear. There are other occasions like these that transport us back to college. Don has the additional benefit of being self-aware. It does not take into account the parents' hard work. In the film, Sivakarthikeyan also adds that stalking or following a girl after she says no is inappropriate.

The film's final act is where it falls short. When Don takes itself too seriously, the emotional stretches aren't as effective as they could be. Sivakarthikeyan's Chakravarthi looks to be teaching lessons about familial values at one point.

Sivakarthikeyan has demonstrated a wide spectrum of acting abilities. He shines in dramatic situations, particularly near the end. The film is as as much SJ Suryah's as it is Sivakarthikeyan's. SJ Suryah continues to prove that he is one of the top actors working today with each new picture. Priyanka Arul Mohan and Samuthirkani have done their part as expected. The comedy of Bala Saravanan and Mirchi Vijay and Sivaangi works well.

The songs and background music by composer Anirudh Ravichander have greatly improved Don. KM Bhaskaran's cinematography and Nagooran Ramachandran's editing also contributed.

Don is a mindless performer with a powerful message. Don is strictly a theatre see, with fantastic comedic scenes and pounding tunes.
