Africa won the toss and chose to bat first
in one of the small grounds of the World Cup. Two wickets fell early in the
innings that let them to be in the back foot. The team was reduced to 31/2 in
the 8th over of the match. Boult was the wicket taker for the New Zealand
team and is presently the highest wicket taker of the tournament. Then it was Faf
du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw having a partnership that helped the team from a
disaster. They had a partnership of 83 runs before Rossouw lost his wicket of Anderson caught by Guptil.
The score card read 114/3 in 26.1 overs when AB Devilliers came to bat. It all
changed for the South African team with a partnership of more than 100 runs and
still going good till rain stopped play. AB deVilliers was not out on 60 and Plessis
unbeaten on 82 runs before rain poured at Auckland.
The other main attraction of this match was the Ambani’s watching the match.
