KAPPELA Movie Review – Malayalam

The phrase “Do not Judge a Book by its Cover” could be the perfect one for this movie “KAPPELA”. This was directed by Muhammad Mustafa, who also has played Abu in this movie.

JESSY is one of the two daughters of a middle class family living near WAYNAD. By mistake, she dials a wrong number who is an auto driver Vishnu of Kozhikode. This wrong call converts from an unknown person call to a loving couple call. They have not met each other till now.  But, the movie goes to the next level when; the couple decides to meet for the first time. Both are in the Kozhikode bus stand, enters another character Roy who is an angry and a frustrated man. He comes to Kozhikode for an interview. Roy is supported by Abu, the director of the movie. These three characters meet each other and end up in a different story. In this small story line, social issue is also added to this nearly a 2 hour movie.

The other characters that played the guest appearance were, Uppum Mulagum serial fame Nisha Sarang as Jessy’s mother, Sudhi Koppa as Benny, Sudheer as father Gabriel and many others characters who has made this movie an interesting visual. The producer of the movie is Vishnu Venu and the writing is done by Nikhil vahid. Sushin Shyam’s music adds more flavor to its well scripted writing. Cinematography is just a perfect showcase of a location that seduces you to visit the place at-least once.

The movie is made with a small line of a social issue. So, every one of the family must watch this at-least once. This would also help someone escape to fall for something you could be surprised. The movie was released in theaters on 6 March 2020 and released in OTT platform, Netflix on 22nd June 2020.

To conclude, I would suggest you to watch this movie with your family and have some clarity to the relationships that happens of a sudden. This story line would not have happened on a bigger circle in the society, but, this kind of story to a real life character could be difficult time to human kind. This movie is literally a life lesson for many in this fast movie world.
