Miss
you Irfan Sir,
The
movie is shot in Udaipur, a confused Champak (Irfan Khan) marries an educated
girl and as a husband of the old book Indian society stops her studies and
makes her a home maker. He realises the mistake of stopping her wife from
studies, with her death he decides to make his daughter the empowered woman who out of the
bounded called misogynistic society.
The
wish of her(daughter) going to the foreign university is in process with an opportunity
popping out of the school she studies . She works hard for the position
and gets through the seat for the Foreign University. However, due to the
circumstance, the opportunity gets missed. The upsetting situation just converts
into a challenge of entering the British University sets a journey of
difficulty to Irfan Khan and his cousin brother Gopi Bansal (Deepak Dobriyal).
The
structure of the movie is scripted well in the first half and second half falls
for its lengthy screen timing. But, does not puts you down due to the fabulous
acting of the Irfan Khan and bunch of good actors. One side you have two actors who are the
experts of good acting and on the other special appearance by Pankaj Tripati as
Tony just robs the scene in spite of the genius Irfan Khan in it.
Champaks
daughter Tarika just reaches the dream world in UK and finds herself fixed in
the British culture that teaches you of being a free being from the age of 18
and not about parents’ intervention in their personal life. This scene just
remembered me of an interview where Aishwarya Rai was, the anchor of the show
asked, why at your middle age of around 30 is still with your parents for
supports. Then reply was one of the best “We do not need an appointment to see our
parents”. This statement is literally the second half of the movie that goes
with the fight of Father and daughter.
This
movie is literally connected to the fabulous Fathers of the country and the
world, who is always in the road for the daughter’s success. In “Hindi Medium”
episode, Husband (Irfan Khan) dances to the dream of his wife, who needs her
daughter to study in a good English medium school. In addition, in this
episode, as a father (Irfan Khan) he is fighting hard to get a seat for his
daughter in top University of London.
As
said before, the big minus would be the unnecessary lengthy scenes that slows
the movies pace. But, the actors in the scenes just keeps you in the show despite
the slowness. The surprise entry of Dimple Kapadia and Kareena Kapoor Khan adds
up to the best moments of the movie. Dimple Kapadia as the owner of a shop and
Kareena Kapoor Khan as her daughter, a Police officer gives more strength to
the movie.
However,
it was Irfan Khan for the last time for us brought in another brilliant
performance as Champak that would stay for a long time in the mind.
Movie: Angreezi Medium
Cast: Irrfan Khan, Kareena Khan Kapoor, Radhika Madhan, Deepak Dobial, Dimple Kapadia, Ranvir Shorey, Kiku Sharda, Pankaj Tripati
Director: Homi Adjania
Producer: Dinesh Vijan
Rating: With Irfan Khan in it for the last time, I would not be rating it as this is one of the best performance as a Father and the emotions shown for his daughter through his eyes is just as perfection as it is.
