ONLY PASS HOLDERS ALLOWED TO TRAVEL IN BMTC

                                                         Source: BMTC Service

The highly expected start of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation(BMTC) bus service will come to the roads from Tuesday morning with some strict guidelines. Only 30 members will be allowed to travel in a bus maintaining Social distancing. No person will be allowed to stand and travel. A/C Buses are not available during this lock-down period. Tickets might be a big concern for the commuters as they are compelled to purchase daily passes even the travel is short. It is also mentioned that daily, monthly and weekly pass holders will only be allowed to travel. Introduction of weekly passes has been introduced for the first time that costs around Rs. 300. The BMTC is also introducing new payment system called QR payment system.

As per the state governments direction, all possible measures have been taken by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation(BMTC). The conductors and drivers have already been tested and given the health report. Only the drivers and conductors with good health report will be available for work. No one without mask will be allowed for the travel. This forces the process to increase the wait time for the passengers to catch a bus. Passengers will have to be patient while boarding the bus or de-boarding it. Other passenger will be allowed only when a passenger de-boards the vehicle. More than 2000 buses will be available for service in different areas. More buses will be released as per the requirement of the passengers. Majestic route would be a concern, as the crowd would be more compared to other places.

This would be a challenging task as the strict guideline would be difficult to follow with lakhs of people getting ready to travel.

On the other hand Autos and Cabs are given permission to get on roads. Auto’s would allow only two passengers excluding auto driver. Cab’s also will follow the same guidelines as the auto’s. Ola and uber companies already have taken big measures to follow the rules set by the state government. The Cab drivers are given permission to cancel the journey, if the commuter is ready to travel without masks. The A/C’s will be switched off during the journey.Selfie-authentication system is introduced by the Ola.

The Services that are not available are Metro, Train, Theaters, Gym, Restaurants(except home delivery/pickup) and Malls. Government and private offices with 50% count is allowed to work after taking safety measures.

Note: BMTC and other transport timing 7 a.m to 7 p.m
