This is a bold effort by the national award winning director
Srijit Mukherji. The movie is a remake of his own flick Rajkahini released way
back in 2015. It deals with the story of brothel house located in the border of
India and Pakistan. One side of the house falling in India and the other part
of the house being located in Pakistan. As per the order the house needs to be
vacated. But, the story goes the other way leading the leading ladies of the
movie to be hurt. Vidya Balan as Begum Jaan has again given us best making the
audience entertained. This may not be watchable with children as the movie is
given an “A” certificate. There are bunch of artists available in the movie
giving the required scene as required.
The song is composed by Anu Malik and the lyrics is written
by Kausar Munir. The movie had a good opening with young audience entering the
cinema hall. But, later the shows could not see much crowd as expected. This
may be due to the IPL matches and the festival season down south. The
Cinematography is given by Gopi Bhagath which is not upto the mark, but OK.
Editor of the movie Monisha R. Baldawa has done a good job with scenes being
given perfectly.
So, overall, the movie is one time watcher with your friends
and family except children.
