The first T20 match between Nepal
and Netherlands was played
at VRA Grounds, Amstelveen.
Winning the toss Netherlands
captain PW Borren chose to bat first in a good pitch to bat. The start from the
hosts was a poor one as two run outs reducing them to 32/3. The only player who
scored freely for the Netherlands
was the opener SJ Myburgh scoring 67 runs from 60 balls. This helped the team
to reach 134 runs in 20 over. Captain Borren was the supporting hand from the
other end. It was Nepal
bowlers who restricted the hosts for a score less than 140. It provided them to
have a chance of winning the first T20 of the series and take the lead in the
tournament.
Need to chase a modest 135 runs to win, Nepal started
to lose wickets from the start and could not have any big partnership that can
give them a chance to reach the target. The visiting team could score on 116
runs losing 7 wickets in 20 over spell. MAA Jamil was the pick of the bowlers
for the Netherlands
with three to his name. He was supported by T van der Gugten who also picked up
two wickets for the team. Nepal
Captain P Khadka was the highest scorer for the team with 45 runs off 41 balls.
