Caribbean Premier League – Match 3

Barbados Tridents won the toss and elected to bat first against the Jamaican Tallawahs. Openers Smith and Munaweera gave the team a good start with a partnership of 57 runs for the first wicket. Then Sohaib Malik came to the crease and continued to play his strokes. He scored 43 runs off just 29 balls that helped the team to reach a better score of 161 runs. Smith was dismissed after scoring 56 runs from 53 balls with 5 fours and 2 six. J Theron was the only bowler who controlled the innings for the Tallawahs with a figure of 4-0-19-1. This was a great spell from the South African who did not give much width for the batsmen to play their shorts. Chasing a target of 162 to win the match, they lost the big wicket of C Gayle early in the innings that put them in the back foot. Wickets were falling with no big partnership in the innings. The only good partnership was the 51 runs fourth wicket partnership between Lynn and H Miller gave the Jamaican team a chance to chase the score. But, they could manage only 145 runs in their 20 over. Peterson picked three wickets and Pollard chipped in with two to win the match by 16 runs.
