The sixteenth match of the Caribbean Premier League was
played between Chris Gayle lead Jamaica Tallawahs and Sammy Captaining St Lucia
Zouks. Gayle won the toss and elected to field first in a good pitch to bat. Two
wickets fell for the St
Lucia team with 14 runs on board. The third
wicket also fell quickly without a big partnership. KP Petersen was the only player
to take the score to a manageable total. He made a brisk 83 off just 57 balls
with 6 fours and 4 six. They could make 158 runs losing four wickets in 20
overs. D Vettori was the bowler for the Jamaica team with figures of
4-0-13-0. He controlled the innings for the team even no wickets in the kitty. Gayle
opened the innings with Wicket Keeper batsman CAK Walton. Both started to belt
the bowlers from the start and had a partnership of 119 runs for the first
wicket. Walton was dismissed after scoring 76 runs from 48 balls with 9 fours
and 3 six. He was supported by Gayle from the other side by hitting 5 six and 3
fours for his 64 off 42 balls. The finished the match in 16 over with 9 wickets
in hand.
CAK Walton was given the man of the match award
for his performance with the bat.
