The second test between New
Zealand and England was played from 29th
May to 2nd June at HEADINGLEY. The first test was won by the hosting
team England.
The visitors needed a victory to prove their test match skills and stay alive
in the series. England
won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first New Zealand two
wickets quickly, then some partnerships helped the team to reach 350 runs. Latham
scored a fine 84 and Ronchi with 88 helped the team to reach the score. S Board
took five wickets for the English side to restrict the opponents. England
started with a partnership of 177 runs for the first wicket in the first
innings and was in top to win the test. But, the New Zealand bowlers came back
strongly to restrict the English men to 350 the exact score they reached. This
was a great chance for the visiting New Zealand team to come back and
win. Again it was disaster start for the black caps losing two wickets early in
the second innings. Guptill and Watlings helped the team to make a big score
and give the opponents a big target to chase. They reach 454 runs and set a
target of 455 for the hosting side. Wickets started to fall from the beginning
and could not put a big partnership that ended the second innings at 255 losing
all the wickets. It was a great win for the Black Caps beating the England team.
