It is played more than 100 years for now and has some
improvements that have grabbed public. In the end of 18th century
and the starting of 19th many teams started to play the game. The
bowlers game all together as wickets were falling and batsmen finding it very
difficult to play the fast bowlers. As the years went it became easy for the
batsmen to hit the fast bowling and scoring more runs. Then there was no
finding of spin came to the picture that gave the batsman problem as it was
turning and found difficult to judge the ball. Batsmen all over the world
started to practice on the turning ball and became easy to play after some
matches. Let us see some of them who changed the game from a tough game to an
easy play:
1.
Don Bradman:
The Australian cricketer who took
the game to the next level by playing some great innings in test matches. He
set many records that helped the team even to win. His test average was a
magical 99.94 that made him the best test batsman of all time. England was
dominating the game against the Australian team in the test matches. This man
started to play some good innings in the starting tests, but began to score
huge runs in the later part of his carrier against the cricketing team that
ruled the game. His patience helped to play some calm cricket and score
hundreds and two hundreds easily. He is still the best test batsman of all
time.
2.
Sunil Gavaskar:
Indian opener who played against
some great teams like West Indies and Australia in the 1970’s and 80’s had a
good technique play a long innings that helped the team from losing the match.
He was one of the best test batsmen of India who was a dream wicket for many
test bowlers. He also has the record of making 36 runs off 174 balls in a One
Day World Cup match.
3.
Viv Richards:
It was difficult for many batsmen
around the world who did not knew to play the One Day format and were
struggling to score runs faster. He was an idol for those cricketers who were
literally scoring less runs of the 60 over format. He was the first man to
score go past 180 runs and end up scoring 189 runs not out in a match.
4.
Kapil Dev:
The game was changing to batsmen game
and finding it difficult for the teams to beat the strong West Indies team.
Many teams were short of all rounder players who could ball and also bat. This
revolution of all rounder came with Kapil Dev who was one of the best All
rounder of all time. Imran Khan was the other man who is respected same as
Kapil for the all round performance and helping the respected team to win the world cup against the strong teams of World Cup.
5.
Shahid Afridi:
At the age of 16 he showed some
character to score the fastest hundred that shocked the world. He was the next
batsman to take the game forward. He showed the cricket world that we can
achieve a score of 320 to 330 runs in 50 over game. He was not that easy to
stop as ball was hit with great power outside the ropes many a time.
6.
Brain Lara/ Sachin Tendulkar:
Both the legends
showed the cricketing world how to play shorts with style. They were
exceptionally well in both the formats of the game. Brain Lara has the record
of highest individual score in test matches and Sachin Tendulkar was the first
person to score 200 in One Day Internationals. They might have retired from cricket
but many of them follow the game due to these two legends.
1.
AB De Villiers/Chris Gayle:
These two big
hitters showed that we can even score more than 8 runs per over in One Day
internationals and around 12 runs an over in T20's. This trend was started by Sanath Jayasurya when they scored 443
runs. AB Devilliers is holding the record for fastest hundred in One Day
International. HE scored the century in 31 balls against the West Indies this
year. Chris Gayle holds the record for fastest hundred in T20 against Pune team
in one of the IPL matches. Anything can happen when they are in the crease for teams
they play. Both of them are with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
