Winning the toss, the New
Zealand captain chose to bat first in a flat pitch at
Oval, London.
The captain of the black caps gave a blistering start with a first wicket
partnership of 61 runs in just 7.2 over. The big hitting continued with both
opener Guptil and Williamson playing their part to set a big total. It was Taylor
and Elliot who gave the New
Zealand team a chance to reach a taunting
task. Taylor
scored a century and Elliot made 32 off just 15 balls. Others helped the team
to reach 398 runs losing five wickets in 50 over.
Chasing a target of 399 to win England openers Roy and Hales gave
the British a good start by scoring runs quickly. The first wicket partnership
between the two came in 12.3 over. EJG Morgan came to the act in the middle
order by scoring six and fours to take his team to keep the run rate intact to
have a chance of reaching the score. Morgan’s wicket became the turning point
of the match as they require more than 100 runs to win the match 12 over left
in the game. Now we need to see who will help the English reach the target. It
is really a tough task with only three wickets remaining.
