Eighth RANJI Win for Karnataka




The fifth and final day of the Ranji trophy belonged to the Tamil Nadu team but the target was more than scored runs. The Tamil Nadu team started the day from 113 for three and required a huge 628 runs as target. Tamil Nadu had started well with scored coming quickly as they decided to chase the score or at least score near the target. Vijay Shankar and Dinesh Karthik continued their form and had a good double century stand between the two as both scored centuries for the state. Dinesh Karthik was dismissed after scoring 120 runs and Shankar scoring 103 before being dismissed. But then the wickets started to fall and could reach only 411 runs in 107.5 overs. Shreyas Gopal was the pick of the bowler to take four wickets giving away 126 runs. The match was all set on the fourth day as Nair scored the highest score of Ranji trophy for the Karnataka team. He makes 338 runs for the team that gave the opponents a big target of 628. KL Rahul was also among runs for the champion team. This victory was the eight in the Ranji trophy history. Vinay Kumar was appreciated for his captaincy as the team is going strong series by series. So, Karnataka won the match by an innings and 217 runs against the Tamil Nadu team.
